Congratulations to Andy Yates who won the Hendy Hero award at the recent Hendy Group Awards.

Andy has been a great supporter of Hendy Foundation, raising valuable funds for us to redistribute to charities and organisations.

He was recognised in the Hendy Group Awards for his incredible achievement in 2023 of completing the iconic Comrades Marathon in South Africa. It’s a 90km race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban which Andy completed in less than 11 hours, and he raised funds for the foundation during his preparation races and the Comrades Marathon.

After finishing the epic run, he said, “The feeling of running into the iconic Kingsmead stadium, seeing all the supporters, my family and getting my hand on the medal while remembering how the sponsorship raised can help the Hendy Foundation is extremely rewarding, It’s a humbling and emotional process, I don’t mind admitting a few tears were shed at the end. Thank you everyone who has sponsored me so far its much appreciated and certainly helped on the day.”

Thanks Andy and congratulations on your award which was presented by foundation chair Rebecca Hendy.
