Dorset charity About Face has been given a £1,500 boost for its work to support those affected by head and neck cancer in the county.
The donation comes from car manufacturer Toyota, which supports local charities nominated by its dealers. Westover Toyota, which is now part of Hendy Group, nominated About Face for the donation and Toyota Brand Manager Julian Saunders said he was delighted the Dorset charity had been awarded £1,500.
“The money comes from Toyota’s Fund for a Better Tomorrow, which is a UK-wide programme of small grants that enable Toyota dealerships to apply for funding to support charities, schools and community projects in their local area,” said Julian.
“Westover has a long association with the group and we are pleased that our submission to Toyota will provide valuable funds for About Face.”
Jane Boyle from About Face added: “We are delighted to have received this donation from the Toyota Fund for a Better Tomorrow and are extremely grateful to Westover and now Hendy for its continued support.
“We work closely with Poole Hospital and its dedicated cancer outpatient clinic, and these funds will go towards providing extra equipment for this clinic, which will ease possible waiting times and make a more comfortable environment for patients. Equipment will include recovery chairs, dental implant systems and treatment laser machines.”
Hendy is one of the UK’s largest dealership networks and this year celebrates 160 years in business. It has 26 franchises and operates from 83 outlets with a turnover of £1bn.
