Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery – known as or FoSOC – is a voluntary group that helps to maintain the 27 acres of the Old Cemetery in Southampton.

In 2013 the group discovered a number of overgrown Hendy graves of the Hendy family, including that of Frederick Adolphus Hendy who founded the company.

The group has since supported FoSOC for the maintenance of the Hendy graves and this support will continue from Hendy Foundation.

The group has a busy calendar of events and volunteers meet at least once a month from March to December to tackle any overgrown areas and keep paths neat and tidy for visitors.

There are also regular events and walks for people to learn more about those who are buried there, links to the city and the wildlife and plants at the cemetery.

The volunteers also help with finding and locating family graves for relations searching their family tree.
