Acts of Kindness (Solent)
As part of its support of foodbanks, Hendy Foundation has donated funds to Acts of Kindness to help it supply meals for school children during the summer holidays who are in need of help but don’t necessarily qualify for government support. This year, around 300 children in the Fareham and Gosport areas are being supported during the holidays.
Asthma Relief is committed to providing and maintaining as many nebulisers as possible in Wiltshire. Hendy Foundation has enabled the charity to buy five nebulisers to be used in the community.
Bournemouth BMX Club provides a much loved and valued facility for the community in the form of a BMX track, which is always openly accessible along with a club providing guidance and support. Coaching is provided to all levels of rider from starter session beginners using our club equipment through to national and international standard riders. Hendy Foundation has funded five BMX bikes and five helmets to enable the club to expand its ladies only BMXercise classes.

Butterflies Bereavement Support is a community-based bereavement charity based in Eastleigh, covering the whole of Hampshire. It supports all those who have been bereaved recently or over the years, and also works with the lonely and isolated and those who struggle with the challenges of life. Hendy Foundation has donated funds to help the charity run its telephone and online suicide support service.
CAB North and West Kent
Hendy Foundation helped CAB in North and West Kent with a dedicated scams awareness campaign in the Tonbridge area. The project was designed to reach vulnerable people in the area such as those with learning disabilities, the elderly and people with mental health issues.

CYCALL is based in Worthing and runs adapted cycling sessions for disabled adults and children, or anyone with a health issue that prevents them from using a standard bike. Hendy Foundation funded a TOMCAT SNI trike designed to ensure children are physically and mentally stimulated – and that they have fun!
Exmouth Town Concert Band
The band was set up more than 30 years ago and plays at a wide range of events. Hendy Foundation funded jackets for new members to wear during their performances.
Friends of Southampton Cemetery
An annual donation is made to the Friends of Southampton Cemetery, a charity which maintains 27 acres of the Old Cemetery in the city. In 2013 the group discovered a number of overgrown graves of the Hendy family, including that of Frederick Adolphus Hendy, who founded the company.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
HIOWAA is the charity that delivers an advanced Critical Care Team to sick and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. Available both day and night, 365 days a year, the Air Ambulance Critical Care Team is called out many times a day to attend road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents. Hendy Foundation has supported HIOWAA for three years.
Headway Salisbury and Wiltshire
This charity supports those affected by acquired brain injury, including family, friends and carers, with the aim of helping those affected reach their full potential in spite of their injury. Hendy Foundation funds will help more people attend regular HeadSmart activity groups, currently remotely because of Covid-19.
Joe Glover Trust
The Joe Glover Trust, now part of Abby’s Heroes in Hampshire, was given a grant to help with its great work of caring and supporting children and their families who are suffering through cancer.
Kangaroos mid Sussex
Kangaroos Mid Sussex provides a range of fun, inclusive social and leisure activities for children and young adults with learning disabilities. Funding from Hendy Foundation has been used towards a playscheme for 6 to 12-year-olds with severe learning disabilities.
Hendy Foundation has supported a project to renovate the Marchwood War Memorial, which was 100 years old in 2020. Work has included the cleaning of the memorial and re-engraving some of the lettering, which had become impossible to read.
The charity provides a supportive environment for children in Devon who have sight problems or an eye condition. Hendy Foundation is supporting sporting activities to help and inspire the children.

Oakleaf Enterprises has provided vocational training to support those with mental health needs in Surrey since 1995. One of the charity’s projects is Gardening for Wellbeing, and a grant from Hendy Foundation was used to buy gardening equipment for the scheme, which trains adults to learn about horticulture and enable them to return to work.
Off the Fence
Off the Fence is based in Brighton and offers a range of services for the homeless, those suffering from addiction, domestic crisis and other challenges in life. The Hendy Foundation grant was to help the Antifreeze project, which supports those who have suffered with addictions, mental health issues, job losses, relationship breakdowns and bereavement, which has led to them being homeless.
Based in Eastleigh this group supports visually impaired people in the area and is staffed purely by volunteers. A grant from Hendy Foundation funded a day out for the blind.
Poole Museum Foundation
Hendy Foundation is supporting a Welcome to Poole programme for refugee families settling in the area. The project entails a series of creative activity sessions taking inspiration from the herb garden in Scaplen’s Court, part of Poole Museums. These sessions could include printmaking, creative clay-sculpting, cooking, bread-making and dyeing. The project will also provide opportunities for cross-cultural knowledge exchange and further engagement with the museum.

Prescription Art Test Valley
Patients with mild depression, anxiety, loneliness, bereavement are referred by their General Practitioner or other health practitioners for a course of six weeks of either singing or art, as an alternative or adjunct to medication. Hendy Foundation helped the charity with funding for a range of courses.

Hendy Foundation has donated funds to SAMEE to help lone parents set up their own business. The funds will help people in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.
Southampton City Farm
Southampton City Farm offers a range of activities ranging from day services to adults through to school visits and holiday activities. The Hendy Foundation grant has been used to purchase gardening equipment for the charity, which aims to create a safe and sustainable project.
St Joseph’s Specialist Trust
This Surrey-based charity provides education and residential care for children and young people with autism or similar conditions, and focuses on how to prepare them for adult life. A grant from Hendy Foundation was used for a free-rider wheelchair bike for children who live at St Joseph’s.
Strong Brave Love
Strong Brave Love is a small charity based in West Sussex that provides bags of love for chemotherapy patients, including items such as hand cream, tissues, lavender oils, stress balls and puzzles to try and make their time in hospital easier, as well as once they are home and dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy. Hendy Foundation provided items for around 100 bags.
The Moving on Project
Based in Fareham The Moving on Project is a specialist counselling service for 11 to 25-year-olds in the area. It helps around 1,000 youngsters every year, and the grant from Hendy Foundation will directly fund counselling sessions for those in most urgent need of support.
University of Southampton Gift of Sight Appeal
Gift of Sight raises funds to support world-class eye research at the University of Southampton. A grant from Hendy Foundation has funded two iPads, which are being used to help treat children with amblyopia – lazy eye. Instead of regular eye appointments, the iPads can be used to monitor changes in visual acuity and these are being lent to children whose families are not able to afford this technology.

West Kent Community Radio
West Kent Radio has been licenced by Ofcom to provide a community radio service to the people of Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and surrounding villages. It is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation run by volunteers. Hendy Foundation helped fund broadcast equipment for the station.

Yellow Door offers a range of free services for those who have experienced or are at risk of abuse. Funds from Hendy Foundation have been used for an outreach programme, which engages with children and young people.
